Lampshade - product details

Fittings – all lampshades are made to fit British standard bayonet (BC) light fittings with a removable adaptor to enable use with a European (EC) uno fitting.

To commission, lampshades can be made with a spider fitting for use with US style lamps that have a harp and finial, or duplex fittings for use with a shade carrier. All frames and fittings are UK manufactured.

Lampshade Lining – all shades are made using a white, flame retardant PVC lining which has passed the Lighting Association glow wire test. This allows light to transmit through the shade and stays white, not discolouring over time.

Orientation: - patterned lampshades are made to fit EITHER a lamp base OR a ceiling pendant light. The utility ring is fitted at the bottom OR top of the shade and the aperture through which the bulb holder goes is approximately 3.5cm within the shade.

- plain colour shades can be used either way up for lamp or pendant.

Diffusers - for ceiling pendant lampshades, you could choose the option of adding a diffuser - this is a translucent polypropylene disc which sits on the lower rim of the shade. It lets plenty of light through but hides the bulb, allowing the eye to focus on the shade itself, giving a smart professional finish. They are particularly useful for larger shades and high ceilings or in spaces where you want to lessen glare such as a nursery, workspace or yogic retreat room. They are very easy to fit and remove for cleaning.

Linen – this is the most eco-friendly natural fabric, its production is sustainable and requires much less water than cotton. It has beautiful textural qualities.

Oeko Tex certified – our ‘plain colour linen’ range is made using a European washed linen of Oeko Tex standard, it is free from harmful chemicals and less impactful on the environment.

Pattern placement – this may differ from that illustrated; however care will always be taken to ensure a pleasing position of pattern.

Professional finish – all lampshades are made with carefully rolled rims and glued seams. Patterns will not necessarily match at the seam.

Size – made in a standard range of sizes, from 15cm to 40cm diameter. Bespoke depths can be made on request. Also, if required, lampshades can be made as a pattern matched pair (this may incur an extra charge due to fabric wastage), please message for a quote.

Colour variation - There may be variations in colour from photograph to monitor, but I have tried to show as accurately as possible. Please request a free fabric sample for colour matching.

Lampshade care - a light dusting with a lint roller or soft cloth should be all that is needed, do not use water on the fabric surface however, the PVC lining can be wiped with a damp cloth if necessary.

It is recommended that lampshades are not postitioned in direct sunlight as the fabrics can fade.

N.B. Each listing is for one lampshade only and does not include any other items depicted in the photos.
